San Miguel lands two dates in Guanajuato Wine Week

San Miguel de Allende will be one of the host cities for Semana del Vino Guanajuato 2026, a state wine program scheduled from June 2 to 7 in León, San Miguel de Allende, and wine-producing municipalities.

The state program was presented on Thursday in León by Guanajuato tourism officials. It includes industry meetings, wine tourism activities, food events, tastings, and vineyard tours.

San Miguel’s main date in the June program is June 3, when the city will host International Sommelier Day 2026 and the National Sommelier Competition 2026 at Hotel Live Aqua. The event is expected to bring together sommeliers, chefs, wine producers, and other representatives from the food and wine sector.

A week split across León, San Miguel and vineyards

The program begins June 2 in León with the Encuentro de Embajadores de Enoturismo de Guanajuato at Libélula in Parque Explora. That event is aimed at the tourism and wine sectors, including wineries, communicators, and specialized promoters.

San Miguel’s sommelier event follows on June 3. On June 4, León will host Guanajuato en la Mesa, with pairing dinners planned at participating restaurants, including SATO Altacia and Vaca Argentina.

The León schedule continues June 5 and 6 with Sabor a Vid + Mundo del Vino GTO at Distrito MX. The week closes June 7 with wine tourism tours in vineyards and wine-producing municipalities around the state.

State tourism officials said the 2026 program is part of a broader effort to connect Guanajuato’s wine industry with restaurants, hotels, travel services, and rural tourism.

San Miguel also set for November wine gala

San Miguel’s wine calendar will extend beyond the June program. The city has also been confirmed as host of the CMB Gala 2026, tied to the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, an international wine and spirits competition.

San Miguel’s municipal government has listed the event for Nov. 29 and 30. The first day is planned as the World’s Best Tasting, with award-winning labels. The second day is scheduled as the gala ceremony.

Municipal information projects about 400 attendees, most of them international, with a direct economic impact estimated at 43 million pesos and more than 600 temporary jobs linked to the event.

Guanajuato officials have said the state’s wine sector includes 64 wine projects, 27 of which offer tourism experiences. The state reports annual production of more than 1.6 million bottles, 130 labels in the market, and more than 600 hectares under cultivation.

Ticket prices and full public registration details for the June Wine Week activities were not included in the announcements reviewed.
