Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, July 21, 2026 – Two large cruise ships occupied the city’s maritime terminal Tuesday, bringing Puerto Vallarta’s second and final double arrival of July during the Pacific cruise industry’s summer low season.
Navigator of the Seas arrived at 7 a.m. from Mazatlán and docked at M2. The 311-meter ship was scheduled to leave at 6 p.m. bound for Los Angeles. Carnival Panorama reached M3 at 8.50 a.m. after sailing from Long Beach and was scheduled to depart at 10 p.m. toward Mazatlán, according to Tuesday’s local arrival report and the July calendar published by ASIPONA Puerto Vallarta.
The two ships measure more than 634 meters combined and placed two large groups of passengers and crew at the port during the same daytime window. Shore activity extended from the Marina and port-side shopping areas into Centro, the Malecón, restaurants, beaches and excursion pickup points.
A final passenger and crew count was not included in the morning report. The same pair brought 8,790 passengers and 2,752 crew members on July 7, totaling 11,542 people aboard both ships. Tuesday’s occupancy may differ, making the earlier figure a useful benchmark rather than a count of the latest call.
July’s entire cruise schedule was compressed into two Tuesdays. Navigator of the Seas and Carnival Panorama also arrived together on July 7, leaving the city with only two cruise days and four ship calls across the month. The concentration created a one-day surge in excursions, taxi trips, restaurant traffic and retail activity, followed by long gaps without another cruise vessel at the terminal.
The light calendar continues the seasonal slowdown that became visible after spring. PVDN previously reported 27 scheduled cruise calls in April, six in May and four in June. July matched June’s total, with every call handled by the same two ships.
The broader six-month figures show a much smaller decline than the summer schedule alone might suggest. ASIPONA passenger data placed first-half cruise traffic at 276,633 passengers, down 0.8 percent from 278,871 during the same period of 2025. Winter and spring calls still represented most cruise arrivals before the annual summer reduction.
Carnival’s published itinerary lists Puerto Vallarta as the first Mexican port on its current eight-night sailing from Long Beach, followed by Mazatlán, La Paz and Cabo San Lucas. Navigator reached Vallarta after Mazatlán and was due to begin its return toward Southern California.
Tuesday’s departures close the official July cruise calendar. ASIPONA labels its monthly schedule as tentative, meaning any added call or operational change would require an updated port listing.
