Two More Puerto Vallarta Beaches to be Certified

The Mexico Institute of Normalization and Certification A.C. is set to issue two more beach certifications in Puerto Vallarta with the addition of Mismaloya Beach and the Holiday Inn Beach.

The two beaches will join Garza Blanca, Palmares, Camarones y Ampas-Conchas Chinas, certified in 2013, bringing the area total to six federal certifications for Puerto Vallarta.

The federal certifications are in addition to the international certification known as ‘Blue Flag’ which was recently awarded to Palmares Beach.

The government is currently petitioning the Blue Flag commission for their certification of Mismaloya Beach and the Holiday Inn Beach as well.

Certifications are scored on environmental issues, quality of water, and preservation of the beaches.

    1. Great. While it’s not part of this article, one beach overlooked by tourism is Punta Negra south of Conchas Chinas and before Mismaloya. Crystal clear water with the arcos in the backdrop, shallow waters stretch for a while giving waist high waters pretty far out where you can watch fish swimming around your ankles. the currents are calm but closer to the jetty they are choppy making a favorite location for buggie boards on the south end of the beach. It’s a family beach, very few vendors, and there are some condos but not stacked on top of each other so a lot of jungle surrounding the beach. Just something that might be worth a visit.
