Volaris Resumes Direct Flights Between Monterrey and Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – In a move set to invigorate travel and commerce in the region, Volaris has officially resumed its direct flight service between Monterrey (MTY) and Puerto Vallarta (PVR). The reinstated route, which operates daily on Airbus A320 aircraft with a seating capacity of 180, offers more than 5,400 seats monthly—reinforcing the airline’s commitment to expanding its network and catering to the rising demand for travel to this popular tourist destination.

This exciting development comes at a time when Puerto Vallarta is gearing up for a summer of opportunities, with the destination now set to receive a total of 355 flights throughout April. The boost in air connectivity not only reflects the growing popularity of Puerto Vallarta among travelers but also underpins the anticipated surge in both cultural and commercial exchanges between the vibrant cities of Monterrey and Puerto Vallarta.

To mark the occasion, representatives from both Volaris and Puerto Vallarta gathered this afternoon to welcome the flight’s inaugural passengers. A symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony signified the official reactivation of the route, symbolizing a fresh chapter in the aviation and tourism sectors.

Volaris’ strategic expansion now connects Puerto Vallarta with eight key airports across Mexico, including major hubs in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Bajío, Querétaro, Toluca, Mexicali, and Tijuana. This extensive network ensures that a broader audience can easily access one of Mexico’s most iconic tourist destinations and enjoy its rich cultural, recreational, and scenic offerings.

Looking ahead, Volaris is set to further enhance Puerto Vallarta’s connectivity with an upcoming service from Morelia, Michoacán. Scheduled to operate on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, this additional route is expected to contribute over 2,000 monthly seats, bolstering the region’s appeal to both domestic and international tourists.

The Tourism Trust has hailed the new air connections as a strong indicator of confidence among trading partners and a testament to the sustained traveler interest in Puerto Vallarta. Recent data reveals that Puerto Vallarta International Airport has experienced a 19% increase in domestic flight frequencies compared to the same month last year—a trend particularly evident among travelers from Monterrey.
