Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, June 30, 2026 – Marina Vallarta has become the newest stop on Puerto Vallarta’s World Cup-season public art route, with seven oversized soccer-ball sculptures installed as part of the city’s “Encuentro del Mundo” exhibit.
The second phase of the exhibit was opened at the Popa Street roundabout in Marina Vallarta, where the pieces now serve as a visible World Cup marker in one of the city’s busiest tourism and residential districts. The display brings together work by 17 local artists, according to the Puerto Vallarta municipal government.
The project is part of “Puerto Vallarta, Encuentro del Mundo,” a public art program that uses monumental soccer balls as temporary street pieces during the tournament. The first phase placed World Cup-themed sculptures in high-traffic areas including the Malecón, Marina Vallarta and the airport, while the new Marina Vallarta display concentrates several pieces around the Popa roundabout and nearby public areas.
The opening was held with city officials and the Asociación de Residentes de Marina Vallarta. Meridiano Vallarta reported that the work involved the municipal Dirección de Promoción Económica y Turismo, the Instituto Vallartense de Cultura, students from the Universidad de la Vera-Cruz, local businesses, Benjamin Moore and the Centro Integral de Justicia Regional, which helped with the structures.
The Marina sits between the airport, cruise terminal, golf course, restaurants, hotels and residential streets, making it one of the areas where World Cup visitors, long-stay property owners and city residents are most likely to cross paths. PVDN has been tracking Marina Vallarta through its neighborhood beat, including public-space improvements, infrastructure work and tourism activity in the district.
The art route also gives Puerto Vallarta another World Cup-season feature outside the main beachside fan zone. PVDN previously reported on the first phase of the city’s ball-art installation in downtown Vallarta and the separate Vibra Jalisco Fan Zone Puerto Vallarta, which is showing matches near Playa Camarones during the tournament.
Jalisco tourism officials list the Puerto Vallarta fan zone as a free World Cup viewing site open through July 19, with 50 match broadcasts, food areas, family activities and the Domósfera Puerto Vallarta Beach Park near the Sheraton. The Marina Vallarta art pieces are separate from that venue, but they are part of the same broader push to spread World Cup activity beyond stadium cities and into Jalisco’s tourism destinations.
