Puerto Vallarta Weather Today – August 2, 2026

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, August 2, 2026 – Puerto Vallarta is starting Sunday with mostly sunny skies and temperatures near 28°C (83°F), according to weather data available at approximately 7:25 a.m. local time.

The temperature is expected to rise to about 34°C (93°F) during the afternoon. Humidity is near 76%, which may make conditions feel warmer, particularly during the midday and early afternoon hours.

Afternoon thunderstorms possible

Rain chances are low during the morning, but clouds are expected to increase after midday. Forecasts indicate the highest chance of rain between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., with a 60–75% chance of thunderstorms.

The National Meteorological Service forecast includes western Jalisco in a regional pattern of heavy rain, lightning and isolated hail. The agency warns that heavier storms may produce temporary flooding in low-lying areas, rising water in streams and reduced visibility on roads.

Beach and coastal conditions

The SMN is forecasting waves of approximately 1-2 meters along the Jalisco coast. Local winds are expected to remain generally light to moderate, around 8 to 16 km/h (5 to 10 mph), although stronger gusts are possible in storm cells.

Beach conditions can change quickly when thunderstorms approach. Swimmers and boat operators should leave the water if lightning or rapidly building clouds are observed.

Planning your Sunday

Morning and early afternoon hours offer the more reliable window for outdoor plans, although heat and humidity will remain high. Carry water, use sun protection and allow extra travel time if rain develops later in the day.

Residents and visitors should monitor local conditions before driving through flood-prone streets or starting beach, boating or hiking activities. The forecast may change as storms form across the bay and surrounding mountains.
