Violence in Jalisco: New cartel confrontations end with roadblocks and 4 vehicles set on fire

In Jalisco there were armed confrontations that began in Zacatecas, which ended in the municipalities of Jalisco in Mexticacán and Cañadas de Obregón; The violent day ended with the burning of four vehicles and at least two dead police officers.

The Jalisco Prosecutor’s Office began the investigation, and reports that the first of the events was recorded on the federal highway 80 from Guadalajara to San Luis Potosí, in the Pegueros delegation, in Tepatitlán, where, subjects on board three pickup trucks blocked a motorist and stole his Tsuru brand vehicle, model 1994, which was located on fire and obstructing traffic heading towards Jalostotitlán. In this same event, another 350 Ford truck was located, with the cabin on fire.

The second of the events was recorded in the Temacapulín delegation to Cañadas de Obregón, at approximately 7:45 p.m. on Friday night, where the National Guard located a white Volkswagen on fire and with its tires strikeouts, obstructing several of the traffic lanes.

The third event took place near Boulevard Juárez, in the El Puente neighborhood, in the municipality of Teocaltiche, where another shootout took place. Upon the arrival of elements of the municipal police, they found a black RAM-type truck, 2021 model, without license plates and with a report of theft in the state of Zacatecas, as well as a white Chevrolet Silverado 2500 car, 2018 model with license plates from the state of Aguascalientes, also with a report of theft, both with bullet holes.

In addition, a green Hummer truck was seized, also with firearm damage, in the parking lot of a nearby self-service store.

In one of the shootings, two police were killed and another injured in the state of Zacatecas before the violence spilled into the state of Jalisco.

The clashes are due to the reinforcement of security, declared last Wednesday, according to the coordinator of the Security Cabinet, Ricardo Sánchez Beruben, who assured that over-vigilance is verified on the borders with Aguascalientes, Guanajuato, and Zacatecas.

The official acknowledged that on the border between Jalisco and Zacatecas, security was reinforced after the assassination of General José Silvestre Urzúa Padilla, coordinator of the National Guard in that entity, “as a result of this, those bordering areas have been reinforced with operational personnel to avoid that the displacement of criminals from the State of Zacatecas to the state of Jalisco is generated and is one of the best ways to deal with the issue of violence caused by organized crime “

He affirmed that violence has decreased in areas such as Teocaltiche.
