Puerto Vallarta (PVDN) – While many groups are choosing to engage in legal proceedings and dialogue following societal pressure, there is a subset of protesters who continue to disrupt traffic.
Most of the groups that are against the enforcement of vehicle verification in Puerto Vallarta have turned to lawful means and discussions to address the social upheaval caused by the Responsible Verification Program. This shift in approach occurred after they faced significant social pressure.
However, some protesters remain steadfast, blocking Francisco Medina Ascencio Avenue at the Verification Center. Their objective is to halt the operations of the Verificentro in this city, a program established under Article 8 of the Regulation of the State Law of Ecological Balance and the Protection of the Environment concerning Vehicle Verification.
On social media, an announcement from the group known as the Peaceful Civil Resistance is circulating, calling for a blockade to begin at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, in front of the Verification Center. There are rumors that this blockade may be partial or intermittent.
Such an action would likely result in significant traffic congestion in the northern part of the city, or potentially widespread chaos if one of the primary routes in this tourist hotspot was completely closed off.
As such, both motorists and public transport users are advised to make appropriate preparations and stay informed about the potential disruptions that could occur on Tuesday afternoon.
Meanwhile, other groups including El Barzón, Fuerza Vallarta, and Unión de Vecinos Vallartenses, who participated in the initial dialogue with UNIRSE, plan to continue their pursuit of solutions at a meeting on Tuesday afternoon at the General Secretariat of Government in Guadalajara.
They have chosen to overlook the potential blockade in Puerto Vallarta on Tuesday, as they are focused on the legal and dialogic strategies they have developed in response to societal pressure.
