Puerto Vallarta International Airport Wins Prestigious Distinction for Inclusive Tourism

PUERTO VALLARTA (PVDN) – They Scored a Stunning 91.76 – But It’s Not About Grades, It’s About Changing Lives! The Puerto Vallarta Airport just won an elite award for creating a flying experience that’s Accessible, Dignified, and Agile (ADA) for all – especially those with disabilities. Find out how they’re shattering barriers and reinventing air travel with their innovative inclusive programs.

The Puerto Vallarta Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport has been honored with the esteemed Distinction for Inclusive Tourism award. This accolade is presented to institutions and companies in the tourism industry that successfully integrate accessibility criteria into their operational practices, aiding people with various disabilities. Miguel Cravioto Sámano, the communication manager of Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico, of which the Vallarta air terminal is a part, expressed pride in the achievement, emphasizing the airport’s commitment to offering quality service to all passengers.

“We received the inclusive tourism badge, not merely for our knowledge of catering to individuals with disabilities, but also for our implementation of comprehensive accessibility measures,” Cravioto Sámano said.

He explained that the airport’s adherence to inclusive principles involved a careful review of five key areas: exterior and interior facilities, rooms and bathrooms, signage, and customer care and information services. These aspects were evaluated by the Federal Tourism Secretariat, the body responsible for bestowing the badge.

Notably, the minimum passing grade to achieve this recognition is 85, but the Puerto Vallarta airport excelled, proudly achieving a score of 91.76.

The airport’s commitment to inclusivity extends to its partnership with Teletón, which led to the creation of Gap Blue – the first permanent international program designed to assist passengers with disabilities at airports.

“We strive for an ADA (Accessible, Dignified and Agile) journey for our passengers, contributing to a barrier-free society and fostering a culture of inclusion. We provide the necessary tools and knowledge to cater to the varying levels of assistance required by passengers with disabilities before, during, and after their trip,” Cravioto Sámano concluded.

The Distinction for Inclusive Tourism was delivered digitally on July 12, and a physical ceremony to present the award is slated for next month.
