Chalacatepec Airport to Receive Inaugural Flight as Infrastructure Development in Costalegre Advances

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco – In a significant step forward for regional connectivity and infrastructure development, the Chalacatepec airport, located in the scenic Costalegre region of Jalisco, will receive its inaugural flight this Thursday. The announcement was made by Jalisco’s Governor, Enrique Alfaro Ramírez, during a visit to Puerto Vallarta, where he also inaugurated a key road infrastructure project.

Governor Alfaro revealed that his administration will officially hand over the Chalacatepec airport this Thursday. The project, which is in the process of becoming an international airport, represents a vital enhancement for the Costa Alegre region, poised to boost tourism and economic growth.

“Tomorrow, the Chalacatepec airport will be handed over, already in the process of becoming an International Airport,” Governor Alfaro stated. He explained that delays in the federal government’s transition had caused minor setbacks in the administrative procedures required for its official designation as an international airport. Nevertheless, the project’s runway is now complete, signaling the readiness of the airport to handle its first flights.

Water Supply and Infrastructure Projects

In addition to the airport, Alfaro also highlighted other significant infrastructure projects in the region. On Thursday, he will visit the municipality of Tomatlán, where he will officially hand over the water supply system for the José María Morelos ejido. This crucial water supply system will also serve the Chalacatepec airport project, ensuring that the region’s growing infrastructure needs are met.

“This is a very, very important water conduction system that we will hand over tomorrow,” Alfaro noted, emphasizing the importance of this project in supporting both local communities and large-scale developments like the Chalacatepec airport.

Nautical Infrastructure and Future Developments

Governor Alfaro further detailed ongoing nautical infrastructure developments. He plans to supervise the Las Ánimas pier in Cabo Corrientes, another critical project aimed at enhancing the coastal region’s maritime accessibility.

“We still have to finish the boardwalk that we are building on La Manzanilla beach,” Alfaro added. The boardwalk, located in La Huerta, is one of several coastal infrastructure projects developed under his administration, aimed at improving both local tourism offerings and transportation infrastructure in the Costalegre region.

Health and Education Projects in Tomatlán

As part of his broader agenda for the region, Alfaro provided updates on health and education projects in Tomatlán. The municipality is set to benefit from the completion of a new hospital and the ongoing construction of the Technological Institute, which are expected to be finalized within the next month.

“These are works that are about to be completed, and we will deliver them, I hope, in one more month,” Alfaro said, underscoring the government’s commitment to advancing public services and education in rural areas of Jalisco.

Significance for the Region

The development of the Chalacatepec airport, along with the broader infrastructure projects in the region, marks a significant investment in the future of Costalegre. Long known for its stunning beaches and relatively undeveloped coastline, the region is quickly becoming a focal point for tourism and economic development in Jalisco. The international designation of the Chalacatepec airport, once finalized, will open up new avenues for both domestic and international travel, making Costalegre more accessible than ever before.

These projects, including the water supply system and nautical infrastructure developments, signal the government’s commitment to building a foundation for long-term growth, while also ensuring that local communities benefit from improved services and facilities.

As Jalisco continues to invest in its coastal and rural regions, the upcoming inauguration of the Chalacatepec airport represents a key milestone in the state’s broader efforts to stimulate sustainable development and enhance regional connectivity.

Governor Enrique Alfaro’s visit to Puerto Vallarta and Costalegre underscores the strategic importance of these regions to Jalisco’s future. The upcoming inaugural flight at Chalacatepec airport marks just the beginning of a series of significant advancements in infrastructure, public services, and tourism development that are expected to transform the region. With a focus on sustainable growth and community integration, these projects highlight Jalisco’s ambition to balance economic development with the preservation of its unique coastal and rural landscapes.
