Hazy Heat Holds Over Puerto Vallarta Before an Evening Shower Window

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, September 12, 2026 – Puerto Vallarta began Saturday with mostly clear skies and a temperature near 24°C (76°F) at 6:42 a.m. Central Time. The temperature is expected to reach about 35°C (94°F), with an overnight low near 26°C (79°F).

Hazy sunshine should hold through most of the afternoon. The strongest chance of rain arrives after sunset, although any showers are expected to be brief and unevenly distributed across the city.

The 6 a.m. national forecast places Jalisco’s heaviest rainfall in the center of the state, not along the Puerto Vallarta coast. The same bulletin forecasts temperatures of 35°C to 40°C (95°F to 104°F) for coastal Jalisco.

Heat will be the main daytime concern

Humidity was running above 80% around sunrise and should remain near 60% during the hottest part of the afternoon. Forecast feels-like readings approach 40°C (104°F) between early afternoon and about 4 p.m.

Outdoor work, exercise, and longer walks will be more comfortable during the morning. Anyone spending the afternoon outside should plan for shade and regular water breaks.

Rain chance rises after sunset

The latest hourly Puerto Vallarta forecast keeps the rain chance at 10% or lower through 6 p.m. It rises to 32% around 7 p.m., 48% at 8 p.m., and slightly above 50% from 9 p.m. through late evening.

A widespread daytime storm is not the leading forecast. If an evening shower develops, brief ponding and reduced visibility remain possible on streets with poor drainage. Move indoors if thunder is heard, even when rain appears light.

Higher surf along the Jalisco coast

The national forecast calls for waves of 1.5 to 2.5 meters, or roughly 5 to 8 feet, along the Jalisco coast. It also allows for locally stronger wind gusts, although the strongest gusts were not placed specifically over Puerto Vallarta.

A same-day municipal beach-flag report was not yet available to verify at 6:42 a.m. Beach conditions vary by location, so swimmers should follow the flags and lifeguard instructions posted at each access point. Boat passengers should check the current port operating status and confirm departures directly with their operator.

Plan the beach early and keep dinner plans flexible

Morning offers the best window for beach visits, errands, and outdoor activity. The afternoon will be hotter, while people heading out after 7 p.m. should carry rain protection and allow extra driving time if showers form.

This forecast was reviewed at 6:42 a.m. Central Time. Weather, surf, and beach restrictions can change during the day.
