More Than 4,000 Arrive in Vallarta on Carnival Ship

PUERTO VALLARTA, Jalisco, Sept. 10, 2026 — Carnival Panorama arrived Thursday with more than 4,000 passengers, marking the second of eight cruise calls scheduled in Puerto Vallarta this September.

The Carnival Cruise Line vessel docked at Muelle 1 shortly before 9 a.m. Its departure for Long Beach, California, was scheduled for 6 p.m., according to the arrival report.

The 323.63-meter ship arrived from Mazatlán, giving passengers several hours to visit the city before returning aboard.

A day of activity for local tourism businesses

Cruise calls create a concentrated period of demand for taxis, tour operators, restaurants, shops and other businesses serving day visitors.

Puerto Vallarta’s maritime terminal is on Boulevard Francisco Medina Ascencio in the North Hotel Zone. Passengers leaving the terminal can travel south toward Centro and the Malecón or connect with tours across Puerto Vallarta and Bahía de Banderas.

The port authority lists taxis, driver-guides, restaurants, a crafts market and currency exchange among the services available at the terminal.

Unlike hotel guests, cruise passengers have a limited window ashore. Thursday’s planned 6 p.m. departure concentrated their activities between the morning arrival and the late-afternoon return to Muelle 1.

That schedule placed much of the transportation activity around Puerto Mágico and the Francisco Medina Ascencio corridor. Passengers returning to a ship at Muelle 1 use Gate 3, according to the port’s access information.

Carnival Panorama remains a regular Vallarta visitor

Carnival Panorama operates Mexican Riviera cruises from Long Beach. Its current seven-day itinerary began Sept. 6 and included Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta.

The ship has become a regular presence at the local maritime terminal. A previous March call brought more than 4,800 cruise passengers to Puerto Vallarta.

Thursday’s visit followed the Navigator of the Seas, which opened Puerto Vallarta’s September cruise schedule on Sept. 1.

Puerto Vallarta’s official September calendar lists eight calls during the month. Carnival Panorama is scheduled to return Sept. 17 and Sept. 29.

The calendar also includes Navigator of the Seas on Sept. 15 and a double arrival by Island Princess and Brilliant Lady on Sept. 23. Brilliant Lady is scheduled to close the month with another call on Sept. 30.
