Mexico produce export deal with China good for Jalisco

Mexico and China will strengthen their trade in the first quarter of 2016 with the launch of the Guadalajara-Henan air corridor, which will have a frequency of three flights per week to transport perishable goods to China, said the Secretary of Agriculture, José Calzada.

A Boeing 747 with a capacity of 120 tons will carry perishable products such as berries and avocados to Henan, one of the most important trading centers in China, along with about 100 million people," he stated.

To this end, the cargo terminal of Guadalajara and the Airport of Henan signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

On the fourth day of his tour in China, the head of Sagarpa said that they expected to achieve sales by more than 100 million dollars from exports of tequila in the next five years, while maintaining steady growth in sales of other products in China.

The head of the country's food policy also led in China a business meeting regarding opportunities in the Mexican agricultural sector. Said meeting was attended by Chinese importers of the region and representatives of Mexican producers of avocados, bananas, blackberries, tequila, dairy, walnut, meat, grain and other agri-food goods.

He also held meetings with officials from Henan and visited the cargo terminal of the International Airport of Zhengzhou (capital of Henan Province), where he saw the available infrastructure to handle perishables.

He noted that the improvement of trade relations between the presidents of Mexico and China, Enrique Peña Nieto and Xi Jinping, had led to a nearly 25 percent increase in Mexican food exports to China this year.

He also highlighted the benefits for dairy producers that the signing of health protocols to export these products will have, as they will be able to sell their goods more profitably.
