New Direct Flight from Prague to Puerto Vallarta Announced for Autumn-Winter Season

In a move set to bolster international tourism to Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, a new direct flight route from Europe has been unveiled, marking a significant expansion in the city’s air connectivity. Beginning in October of this year and continuing through April 2025, travelers from the heart of Europe will have the opportunity to embark on a journey to the sunny shores of Puerto Vallarta every Tuesday, courtesy of a charter operated by DER Touristik.

The announcement was met with enthusiasm by Cryshtian José Amador Lizardi, the director of the Puerto Vallarta Airport, who emphasized the ongoing efforts to enhance the airport’s infrastructure to accommodate the surge in passenger traffic. Lizardi remarked, “The Puerto Vallarta International Airport is prepared to meet the growth derived from the link between influential international destinations and our city.”

During a press conference in Prague, DER Touristik outlined its ambitious plans for the upcoming autumn-winter season. Jiří Jelínek, Director of DER Touristik for Europe, underscored the impact of direct flights in amplifying the allure of exotic destinations. Jelínek stated, “Direct flights have been shown to significantly increase the attractiveness of exotic destinations,” citing the overwhelming success of Airbus A350 flights, which boasted a remarkable 95 percent occupancy rate.

Puerto Vallarta, already boasting 49 national and international routes, has steadily expanded its air connectivity in recent years. In 2023, the city saw a surge in flights to various destinations, including Abbotsford, Los Angeles, Toronto, and Guadalajara. This year, a new connection to Mexico City was inaugurated, further enriching the city’s air travel network.

As part of the agreement with DER Touristik, twelve hotels in Puerto Vallarta and one in Nayarit will collaborate to accommodate the influx of tourists. These include renowned establishments such as Vamar, The Westin, Sheraton, and Buenaventura, among others. The collaboration aims to provide a seamless and memorable experience for travelers from the Czech Republic and neighboring countries.

Vanessa Pérez Lamas, Secretary of Tourism of Jalisco, expressed optimism about the prospects of the new flight route in attracting European visitors to Puerto Vallarta and beyond. Pérez Lamas noted, “Without a doubt, under this new scheme in alliance with the hotel sector, a new market opens for Puerto Vallarta, in addition to potential visitors to Tequila and Guadalajara.”

With a capacity for 432 passengers, the new flight is poised to bring over 10,000 European tourists to Puerto Vallarta over the six months of its operation. This initiative not only augments Puerto Vallarta’s appeal as a premier tourist destination but also fosters cultural exchange and economic growth in the region.
