Part of Basilio Badillo Street in Puerto Vallarta is to Close for Two Months

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – In an effort to enhance infrastructure and improve the quality of transportation in the Emiliano Zapata neighborhood, the Puerto Vallarta City Council has announced the closure of a significant section of Basilio Badillo Street. The affected area, spanning from Insurgentes to Aguacate, will undergo extensive paving and infrastructure upgrades over the course of the next two months.

Jaime Gabriel Pérez Meza, the Director of Public Works for the City Council, revealed that the comprehensive project will involve the installation of cobblestone pavement submerged in mortar, a method known for its durability and resilience. Additionally, essential upgrades to water and drainage lines, household intakes, household discharges, as well as curb and sidewalk refurbishments will be undertaken.

The decision to commence these vital works follows a meticulous bidding process, which culminated on February 26. Rodherick Palacios Bautista emerged as the successful bidder, presenting a proposal totaling 4 million 175 thousand 923 pesos to execute the project.

Given the magnitude of the undertaking, the closure of Basilio Badillo Street will necessitate alternative routes for urban trucks, particularly those accessing the tunnel. Drivers accustomed to traversing this route will now be redirected at the entrance to the highway to Mismaloya, where vehicular access is already restricted. Instead, they will be directed to descend Insurgentes and make a turn onto Venustiano Carranza, a thoroughfare recently adapted to accommodate traffic in both directions. From there, vehicles will ascend Aguacate before rejoining Basilio Badillo Street.

It’s imperative to note the significance of Basilio Badillo Street as a crucial entry point, heavily frequented by heavy-duty trucks. Consequently, the temporary closure underscores the City Council’s commitment to fostering sustainable urban development and ensuring the safety and efficiency of transportation networks.

Residents and businesses situated along Basilio Badillo Street are encouraged to plan accordingly and cooperate with traffic diversions as municipal authorities work diligently to complete the anticipated improvements within the stipulated timeframe.

For further inquiries or assistance regarding the road closure and alternative routes, residents can contact the Puerto Vallarta City Council’s Department of Public Works.

As the project unfolds, residents and stakeholders eagerly anticipate the revitalization of Basilio Badillo Street, poised to emerge as a testament to Puerto Vallarta’s ongoing commitment to progress and prosperity.
