Puerto Vallarta Approves 21 Priority Infrastructure Projects with 181 Million-Peso Loan

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – During a city council meeting held Friday afternoon, Puerto Vallarta’s municipal government announced its intention to pursue 21 priority road infrastructure projects funded by a loan of 181 million pesos. Officials highlighted that the initiative aims to improve the city’s mobility, enhance safety, and boost quality of life for all Vallarta residents.

The planned works include the paving of Avenida México, covering the stretch from Avenida Federación to Avenida Guadalajara, and the construction of the first phase of a new Linear Park in Ixtapa. Additionally, there will be complementary renovations to the Puerto Vallarta boardwalk (Malecón), as well as paving projects on key avenues such as Federación, alongside Coapinole, Cañadas, and the connection to Los Poetas.

Other notable works focus on improving the city’s non-vehicular infrastructure: plans include rehabilitating and expanding bike lanes along major thoroughfares, along with building another Linear Park along the banks of the Cuale River. Roadwork will also extend to paving the side of Highway 544, across from Independencia Street in Ixtapa, aiding both daily commuters and tourists.

Further projects include:

  • Remodeling of Lázaro Cárdenas Park
  • Renovation and revitalization of the Cuale River island
  • Creation of a pedestrian bridge in Pitillal
  • Paving of Santa Rosalía Street
  • First phase of underground cabling in Colonia Emiliano Zapata
  • Paving of Francisco I. Madero Street and Los Poetas Avenue
  • Paving of Emiliano Zapata Street from Paseo Las Palmas to Francisco Villa Avenue
  • Paving of Brasil Street from 5 de Mayo to Revolución
  • Remodeling of facades and complementary works in the Cuale River market

City officials estimate an investment of 18,021,943 pesos for the remodeling and complementary works in the Cuale River area alone, underscoring the project’s importance for enhancing tourism and preserving Puerto Vallarta’s cultural heritage.

Local authorities have expressed confidence that this broad infrastructure push will yield significant benefits for the city. By improving traffic flow, promoting safer pedestrian areas, and boosting tourism through upgraded public spaces, the municipality envisions a stronger and more connected Puerto Vallarta for residents and visitors alike.
