Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, September 11, 2026 – Puerto Vallarta began Friday warm and humid under broken clouds. The latest available airport weather observation at 2:40 a.m. recorded 25°C (77°F), humidity of 89%, and a light northeast wind near 6 km/h (3.5 mph). No rain was reported.
Temperatures are forecast to reach about 33°C (92°F). Humidity will make the afternoon feel closer to 41°C (105°F), especially between noon and 4 p.m.
Rain is unlikely through the morning. Hourly forecasts place the chance of a passing shower between roughly 20% and 30% from mid-afternoon into the early evening. Any rain should be brief and localized.
A hot afternoon with light city winds
Morning clouds should give way to longer sunny periods. Temperatures will climb quickly after 9 a.m., reaching 31°C (88°F) or higher by midday.
Winds within the city should remain light, generally below 10 km/h (6 mph). Humidity near 60% during the hottest hours will keep apparent temperatures well above the measured air temperature.
Outdoor work, exercise and longer walks will be more comfortable early in the morning. Shade, water and sun protection will become important before noon.
Higher waves along the Jalisco coast
The National Meteorological Service forecast, issued at 6 a.m., calls for waves of 1.5 to 2.5 meters (5 to 8 feet) along the Jalisco coast. It also allows for isolated wind gusts of 30 to 50 km/h (19 to 31 mph) in parts of the state.
That forecast does not establish a beach closure. Conditions can differ across the bay, and swimmers should follow the flag posted at each beach. Elevated surf may produce stronger shore break and currents even when the sky remains clear.
Norbert remains far from Puerto Vallarta
Tropical Storm Norbert was about 1,565 kilometers (975 miles) west of the southern tip of Baja California at 3 a.m. Puerto Vallarta time. It was moving west at 24 km/h (15 mph), away from Mexico, with no coastal watches or warnings in effect.
The National Hurricane Center advisory listed no hazards affecting land. Norbert is not forecast to bring direct wind or rain impacts to Puerto Vallarta.
The most comfortable hours come early
Friday should support most outdoor plans, although the afternoon heat and coastal swell require attention. Keep flexible plans after mid-afternoon in case a spot shower develops.
No widespread flooding or severe storm is forecast for Puerto Vallarta. A brief downpour could still leave water on low-lying streets, so drivers should avoid entering any flooded crossing. Weather, surf conditions, and beach flags can change during the day.
