For a group that celebrates the concept of “diversity”, this is a sad reflection of how they actually perpetuate segregation and insulate themselves.

Heterosexual are welcome everywhere the LGBT community gathers, we live in a homosexual world. We have hetro parents, brothers, sisters, co workers, and friends, and many times we need to ‘act straight’ just to be welcomed in public spaces. We create safe havens to be ourselves and welcome everyone. The reason there are services for LGBT people is so that we can go with our same-sex lovers and hold hands and share a kiss and meet people who live our same struggles without fear of being harassed, beaten or killed. There is not a slew of gay men going around beating straight people for being in love. We welcome EVERYONE, but that just isn’t the case for the heterosexuals in the world so we say ‘this is a LGBT zone’ so that those who have a problem with us can avoid us if they choose, not so we can avoid them.
