Puerto Vallarta (PVDN) – Residents of the 5 de Diciembre neighborhood in Puerto Vallarta alerted authorities on Monday afternoon of a strong odor coming from the apartment of a foreigner living in Puerto Vallarta who they say hadn’t been seen in recent days.
Units from the Puerto Vallarta police and Tourist police responded to the call where they were given access to the apartment by the owner.
After entering the house, authorities found the body of a male, approximately 45 years old, and of Canadian origin who was identified as the tenant of the apartment. The body was described as in an advanced state of decomposition, with an estimated time of death being three or four days.
The apartment was cordoned off for an official investigation and removal of the body, which will undergo an autopsy as required by law.
The name of the tenant has been withheld until family can be notified.
