Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, August 4, 2026 – Puerto Vallarta’s mobile veterinary unit will provide free sterilization surgeries, rabies vaccinations, and veterinary care in Villas Universidad today, with only 25 surgeries available.
The Unidad Móvil Veterinaria will operate at Tecnológico de Monterrey No. 244. Registration begins at 8 a.m., and services are scheduled through 1 p.m., according to the official Bienestar Animal Puerto Vallarta announcement.
Because the surgical quota is limited, owners are advised to arrive before registration. The requirements listed by Bienestar Animal include:
- An eight-hour fast without food or water
- Official identification belonging to the pet’s owner
- Dogs transported on a leash
- Cats transported in a carrier or secure container
- Pets that are clinically healthy and clean
Puppies and kittens may be accepted from four months of age. Female dogs and cats may be sterilized four months after giving birth, provided they are not pregnant or in heat.
The mobile unit’s August schedule also includes adoption events at Plaza de Armas on August 5, Parque Los Sauces on August 12, Parque Lázaro Cárdenas on August 19 and Parque Lineal Pitillal on August 26.
The city’s current campaign follows a broader expansion of municipal animal services. PVDN reported in June that Puerto Vallarta’s mobile program had surpassed 1,000 free pet sterilizations. A later report estimated that the municipality may have more than 10,000 street dogs, increasing pressure on sterilization, adoption and shelter programs.
