Puerto Vallarta Police Remove Homeless People From Beach

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – In a recent operation aimed at maintaining public order and ensuring the safety of one of Puerto Vallarta’s busiest beaches, the Citizen Security Police Station has dismantled several improvised camps occupied by homeless individuals at Holi Beach. The action was spearheaded by Deputy Director of Operations, Carlos Humberto Arce Villaseñor, who, alongside officers assigned to the area, conducted a comprehensive sweep to address the issue.

The operation was initiated in response to concerns about the growing presence of makeshift camps constructed from tarps and cardboard, which had become increasingly visible on Holi Beach. These structures were identified as potential hazards to both the occupants and the numerous visitors who frequent the beach daily.

During the operation, police officers encountered several homeless individuals residing in these camps. The officers engaged with the occupants, explaining the reasons for their actions and the necessity of vacating the area. The individuals were politely informed that continued camping in this manner would result in arrest, in accordance with the Police and Good Government Regulations, which aim to ensure public spaces remain safe and accessible to all.

Deputy Director Arce Villaseñor emphasized the importance of these measures, stating, “Our primary goal is to maintain public order and ensure the safety of everyone who visits Holi Beach. We are committed to working with all members of the community to address these challenges compassionately and effectively.”

Following the removal of the camps, police officers will maintain a heightened presence in the area. Regular patrols of both the beach and the alley leading to it have been scheduled to deter any illegal activities and uphold public order. Holi Beach, known for its scenic beauty and high visitor traffic, remains a focal point for local authorities seeking to preserve the safety and enjoyment of public spaces.

The operation reflects broader efforts by the Puerto Vallarta municipal authorities to address homelessness and related issues in the city. While the removal of camps is part of immediate measures to ensure public safety, long-term solutions remain necessary to support individuals experiencing homelessness. Local government and social service agencies continue to work towards providing sustainable support and resources to those in need.
