Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, October 17, 2026 — Puerto Vallarta’s port will close to all navigation at 7 p.m. Saturday as Hurricane Trudy approaches, the regional harbor master has ordered.
The restriction covers large and small vessels throughout the Capitanía de Puerto’s jurisdiction in Puerto Vallarta, Cabo Corrientes and Tomatlán. The order responds to the hurricane’s forecast movement toward western Mexico. Its scope includes water taxis, fishing boats, private pangas, and excursion vessels.
No reopening time has been announced. The order is identified as notice 4589/2026, signed by regional harbor master Ubaldo Gómez Rodríguez, with reopening left pending.
For passengers visiting Yelapa or other southern beaches, the immediate question is how to get home before boat service stops.
The 7 p.m. closure does not establish the last water-taxi departure from each beach. Passengers need confirmation of their particular return trip rather than treating the closure hour as a boarding deadline.
This report could not independently confirm a storm-specific final-departure timetable, special return-boat arrangements, or an operator-by-operator excursion cancellation list.
That leaves an immediate decision for anyone holding a boat reservation: contact the company or captain handling the trip. Any excursion requiring navigation after 7 p.m. would conflict with the announced closure. Customers should confirm whether their booking has been canceled, shortened, or rescheduled, and what refund arrangements apply.
The same concern extends to Sunday bookings because the order provides no fixed reopening time.
The closure comes as Trudy moves closer to Mexico’s Pacific coast. As Vallarta Daily’s Hurricane Trudy updates note, the National Hurricane Center’s noon Saturday advisory maintained a tropical storm warning for Puerto Vallarta. The hurricane was about 220 kilometers south of Manzanillo, with maximum sustained winds of 150 km/h, and was forecast to pass near the coast tonight and Sunday.
For communities reached primarily by boat, a navigation closure affects the practical connection between a beach visit and the journey home. The Go2Yelapa transport guide describes scheduled panga connections with both Los Muertos and Boca de Tomatlán, while warning that departure times are “subject to change at any moment without notice due to weather conditions.”
Passengers seeking confirmation can use the published operator contacts. Yelapa Options’ water-taxi reservation page lists 322 159 0677. Go2Yelapa also lists 322 190 3342 for the Beautiful Sea and Elektra boats serving Los Muertos.
Anyone already on a southern beach should confirm the pickup time and boarding point directly with their operator. The arrival point matters, too: a boat returning to Boca de Tomatlán still leaves passengers with an onward journey into Puerto Vallarta.
