Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – As November 1 and 2 draw near, Puerto Vallarta’s municipal departments are diligently preparing to welcome thousands of visitors to the city’s cemeteries for the Day of the Dead celebrations. The Municipal Public Services Department, alongside divisions such as cemeteries, public sanitation, public lighting, and parks and gardens, has been actively working to ensure the sites are ready for this culturally significant event.
Javier Navarro, Director of Municipal Public Services, announced that teams have been conducting thorough inspections of the municipal cemeteries, including a recent tour of the Ramblases cemetery with Mayor Luis Munguía. “We’ve made significant progress in our preparations during these tours. Our goal is to make sure everything is in place for the upcoming dates,” Navarro stated.
The preparatory work includes pruning overgrown vegetation, cleaning the cemetery grounds, and sanitizing spaces to provide a safe and welcoming environment for visitors. “We want everyone who comes to honor their loved ones to feel secure and comfortable,” Navarro added.
In addition to the Public Services Department, agencies such as Civil Protection, Municipal Transit, Public Safety, Inspection and Regulation, and the Registry and Licensing Office have met to coordinate efforts for the festivities. Navarro hinted at a “big surprise” planned for the celebrations, details of which are expected to be unveiled in the coming days.
The Day of the Dead is a deeply rooted tradition in Mexico, and Puerto Vallarta’s concerted efforts reflect the city’s commitment to preserving this heritage while ensuring public safety and enjoyment for all attendees.
