Puerto Vallarta Weather Today – August 22, 2026

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, August 22, 2026 – Light rain and mostly cloudy skies were reported in Puerto Vallarta at 6:25 a.m. Saturday. Local readings ranged from 24°C to 26°C (75°F to 79°F).

Temperatures are expected to reach 33°C to 34°C (91°F to 93°F), with an overnight low near 25°C (77°F). Humidity will remain high, and the apparent temperature could approach 37°C to 39°C (99°F to 102°F) during the afternoon.

Rain was already affecting parts of the city early Saturday. The local hourly forecast keeps showers possible through the morning, with thunderstorms most likely from about 2 p.m. into the early evening. The overall daytime rain chance is near 60%.

Intense rain possible in western Jalisco

The 6 a.m. national weather bulletin places western and southern Jalisco under a forecast for localized rainfall totals of 75 to 150 millimeters, or roughly 3 to 6 inches.

That regional range does not mean every part of Puerto Vallarta will receive those amounts. Tropical rainfall can be highly localized, leaving one neighborhood with a brief shower while producing much heavier rain nearby.

The strongest cells may bring lightning, reduced visibility and sudden street flooding. Low crossings, underpasses and roads near streams should be treated cautiously during heavy rain. Drivers should avoid entering standing or moving water, even when the depth appears manageable.

Humidity and afternoon heat

Cloud cover may limit direct sun at times, but it will remain hot and humid. The apparent temperature could reach 39°C (102°F) between early afternoon and sunset.

Outdoor work and exercise will be more comfortable during the morning. Anyone outside later should carry water and plan for both heat and fast-changing rain conditions.

Wind and coastal conditions

Winds should remain light during much of the day. However, the official Jalisco forecast calls for sustained winds of 10 to 20 km/h (6 to 12 mph), with localized gusts of 30 to 50 km/h (19 to 31 mph), particularly near thunderstorms.

Waves of 1 to 2 meters, or about 3 to 6.5 feet, are forecast along the Jalisco coast. Swimmers should follow the flag posted at each beach because conditions can differ across the bay and may change after storms develop.

The marine forecast does not by itself indicate a port closure. Tour operators and private boaters should confirm conditions with the Capitanía de Puerto before departure.

Planning Saturday around the storms

Morning plans may still encounter passing showers, but the greater thunderstorm risk arrives during the afternoon. Keep outdoor schedules flexible after 2 p.m., allow extra travel time and avoid flood-prone streets if heavier rain begins.

Weather, beach flags and port conditions can change quickly. This forecast reflects information available at 6:25 a.m. Central Time on Saturday, August 22.
