Morning conditions in Puerto Vallarta
Cloud cover is expected to continue through the morning, with temperatures rising to about 32°C (90°F) by noon. Rain chances remain low through early afternoon.
The latest hourly forecast shows isolated thunderstorms around 3 p.m., followed by a higher chance of passing showers between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Rain chances during that period range from roughly 20% to 31%, although conditions can change quickly in the rainy season. The forecast was updated Sunday evening.
Afternoon rain and storm risk
The National Weather Service of Mexico issued its 6:00 a.m. forecast with strong to very strong rainfall possible in western Jalisco. The agency said storms may include lightning, strong wind gusts, localized flooding, water accumulation, reduced visibility, and rising river and stream levels.
That forecast covers a broad part of the state and does not mean every part of Puerto Vallarta will receive heavy rain. For the city, the more immediate forecast points to scattered afternoon and evening showers, with the possibility of brief downpours in some neighborhoods.
Wind, surf, and outdoor conditions
The national forecast calls for winds of 10 to 20 km/h in Jalisco, with gusts reaching 30 to 50 km/h. Pacific waters along the Jalisco coast may see waves between 1 and 2 meters.
Beachgoers should check local flag conditions before entering the water, particularly if thunderstorms develop offshore. Small boats, paddlecraft, and other activities close to the shoreline may be affected by changing wind and wave conditions.
Planning your Monday
Morning outdoor activities should have the most favorable weather, although cloud cover and humidity will make the day feel warm. Plan extra time for travel later in the afternoon if showers develop, especially on roads that collect water during heavy rain.
Keep rain protection available after 3 p.m. and avoid exposed beaches, open areas, and waterways if thunder is heard. The forecast and local conditions can change during the day, with the next major update from Mexico’s weather service scheduled for 6:00 p.m. local time.
