Puerto Vallarta Weather Today – August 6, 2026

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, August 6, 2026 – Puerto Vallarta is starting Thursday mostly cloudy and warm, with temperatures near 26°C (79°F) at 7:25 a.m. Light winds are expected early, while rain and thunderstorms become more likely later in the day.

Puerto Vallarta weather forecast for today

Temperatures should rise to approximately 34°C (93°F) during the afternoon before easing slightly in the evening. Humidity will remain high, reaching about 64% to 75% through the afternoon. The combination of heat and humidity may make conditions feel closer to 40°C to 41°C (104°F to 105°F) during the hottest part of the day.

The hourly forecast shows mostly cloudy conditions through the morning, with isolated thunderstorms possible from early afternoon. Passing showers and thunderstorms are most likely between approximately 1 p.m. and 8 p.m.

The day forecast indicates an overall chance of rain at about 60%, though rainfall may be uneven across the city. Some neighborhoods could receive a brief heavy shower while others remain dry.

Rain, lightning, and flooding risk

The Servicio Meteorológico Nacional is forecasting strong to very strong rainfall in western Jalisco. The agency warns that thunderstorms could bring lightning, localized flooding, standing water, reduced visibility, and rising water levels in streams and drainage channels.

Those risks do not mean flooding is expected across Puerto Vallarta. Conditions can change quickly, especially near hills, river channels, low-lying streets, and areas with poor drainage. Motorists should allow extra time if heavy rain develops during the afternoon or evening.

Wind and outdoor conditions

Winds should remain generally light in the city, around 5 to 10 km/h (3 to 6 mph) for much of the day. Gusts may increase near thunderstorms.

Beach and outdoor plans are likely to be more comfortable in the morning and early afternoon, but visitors and residents should monitor the sky and move indoors if they hear thunder. Avoid entering the water during lightning and wait for storms to pass before returning to the beach.

Planning your Thursday

Morning activities have the lowest risk of rain, although cloudy skies and high humidity are expected. Plan for heat in the afternoon, carry rain protection, and leave flexibility for delays due to short-duration downpours.

The forecast is based on conditions available at 7:25 a.m. local time and may change during the day.
