Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, August 7, 2026 – Light rain was reported in Puerto Vallarta at 6 a.m. Friday, when the temperature was 25°C (77°F). Humidity was 86%, with light winds near 5 km/h (3 mph), according to the local hourly weather reading.
Temperatures are expected to rise quickly after the morning clouds break. The afternoon high should reach about 33°C (91°F), with a forecast feels-like temperature near 41°C (106°F) as humidity remains high.
Isolated thunderstorms are possible from early afternoon. Rain chances increase through the evening, reaching about 40% around 6 p.m. and above 50% later at night. Conditions can change quickly along the bay and in the foothills.
Friday morning conditions
The early rain should give way to a warm, mostly cloudy morning. Outdoor errands, walks, and beach time will be more comfortable before late morning, although the humidity will remain noticeable.
By noon, temperatures should be near 32°C (90°F), with a short-lived shower still possible.
Afternoon rain and regional outlook
The National Meteorological Service forecast places western Jalisco in a regional outlook for very heavy to intense rainfall, with possible totals of 75 to 150 millimeters in some areas. The forecast is tied to Tropical Wave 25 and other weather systems affecting western Mexico.
That is a regional forecast, not a Puerto Vallarta rainfall total. Still, the agency warns that stronger storms may bring lightning, brief wind gusts, rapid runoff, and water pooling in low-lying areas.
Around town, on the beach, and on the water
The morning wind forecast is light, so there is no broad wind concern early in the day. Afternoon thunderstorms are the more relevant issue for beachgoers, boat tours, and anyone planning time on the water.
Leave the beach or pool if thunder is heard, and boat operators should check current Port Captaincy notices before departure. Drivers should allow extra time later in the day, particularly on streets that collect water quickly during heavy rain.
Plan the day around the heat
Schedule outdoor activity early, carry water, and keep rain gear nearby after lunch. The weather does not call for canceling normal daytime plans, but late-afternoon and evening plans should have an indoor option if thunderstorms develop.
