Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, July 20, 2026 – Puerto Vallarta began Monday under cloudy skies, with a temperature near 26°C (79°F) at 6:22 a.m. Central Time.
Humidity was expected to remain above 80% through the early morning. By 7 a.m., the temperature was forecast to feel closer to 31°C (87°F), despite an actual reading near 26°C (79°F), according to the hourly Puerto Vallarta forecast.
Conditions can change during the day, particularly during the summer rainy season.
Heat builds by early afternoon
Temperatures are forecast to climb quickly after 9 a.m., reaching about 34°C (93°F) near 1 p.m.
Humidity will fall somewhat as temperatures rise, but the combination will still produce a heat index near 40°C (104°F). The perceived temperature could reach about 41°C (106°F) during the hottest part of the afternoon.
Outdoor work, exercise, and errands will be more comfortable early in the morning. People spending extended periods outside should use shade, drink water regularly and limit strenuous activity between late morning and mid-afternoon.
Rain timing remains uncertain
Puerto Vallarta-specific guidance shows a low chance of measurable rain Monday. The daily probability is about 13%, while hourly chances remain between 2% and 4% through late evening. No defined period of steady rain or thunderstorms appears in the city forecast.
The broader National Meteorological Service forecast includes western Jalisco as an area where heavier rain may develop. That regional outlook does not mean Puerto Vallarta will receive the highest totals, but it leaves room for an isolated afternoon or evening storm.
Widespread street flooding is not the base forecast for the city. A localized downpour could still cause brief ponding on low streets and reduce visibility. Drivers should avoid entering water when the road surface is not visible.
Wind, surf and tropical activity
Winds will remain light, beginning from the east or northeast before shifting west during the afternoon. Speeds around the city are expected to stay near 6 to 13 km/h (4 to 8 mph), with only slightly higher gusts.
Marine guidance calls for southwest seas near 0.9 meters (3 feet), with a long period of 15 to 16 seconds. Winds over the bay are forecast near 6 to 8 knots, producing a slight chop rather than rough conditions.
Beach conditions can vary by location. Swimmers should follow the flag posted at each beach and instructions from lifeguards, especially near river mouths and areas with changing currents.
The National Hurricane Center was tracking Tropical Storms Fausto and Elida in the eastern Pacific early Monday. Neither storm had coastal watches or warnings in effect, and neither advisory listed a direct land hazard for Puerto Vallarta.
Boaters and tour operators should still check the official port-status system before departure because the Capitanía de Puerto may change restrictions as marine conditions develop.
Best windows for Monday plans
The most comfortable period for walking, shopping or outdoor exercise will be before 9 a.m. The afternoon should remain mostly dry but hot, with temperatures above 32°C (90°F) for several hours.
Cloud cover will increase again around sunset. Evening temperatures are expected to remain near 27°C to 30°C (81°F to 87°F), with humidity rising above 80%.
Carry water, plan midday breaks indoors, and keep an eye on local radar or civil-protection notices if clouds build over the mountains. Forecast conditions and beach or port restrictions may change during the day.
