Heat will build quickly after sunrise

Humidity will remain high. The hourly Puerto Vallarta forecast indicates that the heat index could approach 42°C (107°F) between noon and 2 p.m., even with light winds.

A Secretaría de Marina marine weather notice forecasts a long-period swell beginning Thursday afternoon along the Pacific coast, including Puerto Vallarta.
The notice calls for waves of approximately 2.1 to 2.7 meters (7 to 9 feet), with periods of 22 to 26 seconds and an increased risk of rip currents.
Beachgoers should follow lifeguard instructions and posted beach flags. Boat operators and anyone planning a coastal excursion should check the official port operating-status page before departure.
Best timing for Thursday plans
The most comfortable period for outdoor errands, exercise or sightseeing will be early morning, preferably before 10 a.m. Anyone outside near midday should carry water, use shade when possible, and allow additional breaks because of the heat index.
Beach conditions require more caution from Thursday afternoon as the swell arrives. Keep evening plans flexible in case a localized storm develops over Puerto Vallarta or the surrounding mountains.
