The National Meteorological Service ( SNM ) reported that tropical storm Dolores degraded to storm remnants at 4:00 AM, Sunday, June 20, 2021, after making landfall on the Pacific coast.
In the last hours, Dolores weakened on land, however, the system will still continue to cause very heavy rains in western Mexico this Sunday, June 20.
This was explained by the National Meteorological Service (SMN) in its daily report, where it indicated that the center of the remnants of the cyclone is located over Zacatecas. These scattered clouds will generate intense rainfall in the next few hours in Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, Durango, and Sinaloa, with accumulations of up to 150 millimeters. In addition, very strong storms in Chihuahua and Zacatecas are expected with 50.1 to 75 mm of rain.
“The rains could generate an increase in the levels of rivers and streams, overflows, landslides and floods in low areas of land,” warned the climate agency.
According to meteorologist Víctor Manuel Cornejo López, the storm disintegrated once it hit the Occidental mountain range, however, the effects of rain will continue for at least the next three to four days, which is why he warned of possible flooding of rivers and streams.
