What are the Most Popular Dishes for Tourists in Puerto Vallarta?

PUERTO VALLARTA (PVDN) – The gastronomy sector in the Banderas Bay region is bustling with activity as tourists flock to the area to savor the region’s delectable seafood offerings. As the summer vacation season draws to a close, businesses are preparing to make the most of the remaining weeks, which promise to continue bringing visitors and boosting the local economy.

Thousands of tourists have been visiting this part of the Mexican Pacific, attracted by the rich culinary experiences it has to offer. Seafood is a staple of the region’s cuisine, and visitors can’t get enough of the mouthwatering dishes available. “Seafood, fish, zarandeado shrimp. Very tasty,” remarked Gabriela Vallejo, a tourist from Guanajuato.

Those working in the gastronomy sector are eager to cater to the influx of visitors and are ready to ensure that their final days of summer are filled with delicious memories. “Well, let’s hope that vacationers continue to arrive, although we know that the children return to school, but we still have 22 days left. We hope you continue to visit us,” said Arian Reynoso, a local waitress.

The Banderas Bay region is particularly famous for its ceviche, oysters, and fish dishes. One unusual yet popular delicacy is the cockroach shrimp, which owes its peculiar name to its appearance. “Cockroach shrimp is named so because of the tone of the color in which they appear, which remain in the color of the cockroach,” explained Daniel Hernández, a local cook.

This summer has seen an average occupancy rate of 85 percent in the region, a clear indication of the surge in tourism. The influx of visitors not only enriches the cultural tapestry of the area but also contributes significantly to the local economy. The final weeks of the summer vacation season are expected to continue this positive trend, bringing a good economic flow to tourism service providers throughout the Banderas Bay area.

As summer winds down, the gastronomy sector in Banderas Bay remains poised to continue delighting the palates of visitors from near and far, contributing to the vibrant culinary scene that the region is known for.
