Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco — The Jalisco State Attorney General’s Office arrested Alejandro N., known as Alex Marín, a pornographic film producer, on charges of human trafficking and sexual exploitation of a minor under 16 years of age. Authorities executed the operation in Puerto Vallarta after gathering evidence that connected the suspect to illegal filming activities involving a child.
According to the Jalisco State Civil Protection and Firefighters Unit (UEPCBJ), the investigation began when federal tip-offs indicated that a production outfit in Puerto Vallarta engaged minors in explicit content. Over several weeks, agents conducted surveillance, secured warrants and coordinated with child protection services to safeguard the alleged victim. In the past 24 hours, they moved in to detain Alejandro N. without incident.
Governor Pablo Lemus confirmed the arrest in a press briefing at the state capitol. “This is a significant action in the protection of minors’ rights,” he said, highlighting his administration’s zero-tolerance approach to child exploitation. Lemus urged anyone with additional information to come forward and praised the Attorney General’s Office for its swift response.
Under Articles 149 and 175 Bis of the Federal Penal Code, human trafficking and sexual exploitation of minors carry sentences ranging from 20 to 40 years in prison. Prosecutors accuse Alejandro N. of recruiting, transporting and filming a minor for commercial gain. If convicted, he could also face heavy fines and a lifetime ban from media production.
The arrested producer was placed at the disposal of a judge in Puerto Vallarta’s Specialized Court for Crimes against Children and Adolescents. At his first hearing, the judge formally read the charges and denied bail, citing the gravity of the offenses and risk of flight. Prosecutors said they will present forensic evidence, digital files and witness testimony at the next session, scheduled for June 3, 2025.
Investigators worked alongside federal authorities, including the National Migration Institute and the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Crimes against Women and Human Trafficking. They also coordinated with non-governmental organizations to ensure psychological support for the alleged victim. State officials say this multi-agency strategy reflects Jalisco’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks that prey on vulnerable populations.
Child protection advocates welcomed the arrest but urged continued vigilance. “Arresting a suspect sends a strong message, but we need sustained funding for prevention and education,” said a spokesperson for the Puerto Vallarta Institute for Childhood Welfare. Community leaders have announced plans to hold a public forum on online safety next month.
As Alejandro N. awaits trial, authorities will continue investigating the full scope of the production network. Officials say they will monitor any digital platforms linked to the case and track down additional suspects if necessary. Meanwhile, parents and guardians in Puerto Vallarta remain on alert, and the state government has set up a hotline for reporting suspected abuse. With this case now moving through the courts, Jalisco’s leadership insists that protecting children will remain its top priority.
