PVDN Mobile App — Privacy, Terms, and Disclosures

Who we are. Puerto Vallarta Daily News (“PVDN”) operates the PVDN mobile app and the website at vallartadaily.com (the “Services”). This page explains how the mobile app handles privacy, ads, subscriptions, user content, and other disclosures required by app stores. It works together with our full Privacy Policy and Terms of Use. If anything here conflicts with the full policies, the stricter rule applies.

1) What the app collects and why

We collect the minimum necessary to operate the app, deliver news, send notifications you request, run advertising (on free content), and manage paid subscriptions.

A. Accounts & identity

  • Email, name (if you create or link a PVDN account).
  • Subscription status and entitlement.

B. Purchases

  • Google Play purchase token, product ID, and country for validation, anti-fraud, taxes, and entitlement.

C. Notifications

  • A device push token so we can send alerts you opt into. You can turn notifications off anytime in system settings or in-app.

D. Ads

  • The Android Advertising ID (AAID) and standard ad signals used by the Google Mobile Ads SDK to show ads on free content and, if you consent, to personalize them.

E. Diagnostics

  • Crash logs, performance data, and basic app interaction events to keep the app reliable.

We do not collect your precise location, your contacts, your photos, your microphone, or your text messages.


2) Data sharing & retention

  • We don’t sell personal information. For U.S. state laws, “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising may occur when you consent to personalized ads; you can opt out anytime (see “Ads & consent” below).
  • Vendors (processors). We use:
    • Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) to serve in-app ads on free content.
    • Google Play Billing to process in-app purchases and subscriptions.
    • Expo/OS push infrastructure to deliver notifications to your device.
  • Retention. Purchase records and account data are kept as required for tax, accounting, and fraud prevention. Push tokens are retained until you disable notifications or uninstall. Crash/diagnostic data follow vendor default retention windows.

3) Children

The app is not directed to children under 13 (or the relevant age of consent in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.


The app contains advertising on free content. We use Google’s Mobile Ads SDK.

  • Consent & choices. In regions where required, you’ll see a consent prompt. You can revisit ad choices in system settings (reset/limit the Android Advertising ID and “opt out of Ads Personalization”). Inside the app we honor “non-personalized ads” when you choose that.
  • app-ads.txt. Our authorized ad sellers are listed at https://www.vallartadaily.com/app-ads.txt.
  • Subscribers. Logged-in, active subscribers will not see ads in subscriber-only areas.

5) Subscriptions & in-app purchases (Google Play)

  • Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel.
  • Managing your subscription. Manage or cancel anytime in Google Play on your device. A direct link appears in the app under Settings › Subscription.
  • Billing & refunds. Payments are processed by Google Play. Refund eligibility follows Google Play policies and applicable law. If you believe there’s an error, contact us; we’ll help investigate.
  • Entitlements & accounts. On purchase, the app verifies your Google Play purchase token with our server and creates or updates your PVDN website account so you can read subscriber content across platforms.

6) User-generated content & moderation

If you post comments or other content:

  • Rules. No harassment, threats, hate speech, illegal content, spam, or impersonation. We may remove content or restrict accounts at our discretion.
  • Reporting & blocking. The app provides in-app tools to report abusive content/users and to block users. We review reports and act where appropriate.
  • Enforcement. Severe or repeated violations can lead to account termination. Paid subscribers who are terminated for violations may not receive refunds, except where required by law.

7) Push notifications

You can opt in to categories like Breaking News or Alerts. You can change preferences in the app or turn notifications off in your device settings. Disabling notifications does not affect your subscription.


8) Security

We use industry-standard transport encryption (HTTPS) and access controls. No method is perfectly secure; please use a strong device passcode and don’t share credentials.


9) International users

By using the app, you understand your data may be processed in countries where our vendors operate. We rely on appropriate safeguards when transferring data internationally.


10) Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact us to exercise these rights. For California and other U.S. state privacy laws, you may opt out of “sharing” for cross-context advertising by choosing non-personalized ads.


11) News transparency

PVDN is an independent news publisher. We publish original reporting and curated reports with attribution. Our website and app list contact details, ownership, and editorial information. When we use affiliate links or sponsored content, we disclose it.


12) Changes to this page

We’ll update this page when we change how the app handles data, ads, or subscriptions. Material changes will be noted in-app or on this page.
