Cancun Weather Today, May 27, Brings Rain, Heat, and Clouds

Wednesday in Cancún is not shaping up as a clean, blue-sky day. The forecast carries heat, heavy cloud cover, and several rain windows, with a stronger chance of wet streets later in the day. The numbers are not extreme on the thermometer, but humidity does the rude little trick it always does here: it makes the air feel heavier than the reading suggests. Residents and visitors should expect a changeable day, especially after late morning.

Cancun Weather Today Could Get Wet Before the Day Ends

Today in Cancún, the weather is expected to stay hot, humid, and unsettled, with clouds dominating much of Wednesday and rain chances returning before midday.

Current conditions in Cancún were mostly cloudy at 28°C, according to the latest hourly forecast used for this report. Temperatures are expected to climb through the morning, reaching about 32°C during the early afternoon before easing later in the day.

Muggy morning, wetter afternoon

Showers were forecast around 8 a.m., followed by mostly cloudy skies through midmorning. Rain returns to the hourly forecast around 11 a.m., with cloudy conditions expected around noon and early afternoon.

By midafternoon, the forecast turns wetter again. Rain is expected around 3 p.m., followed by showers near 4 p.m. Conditions should begin to loosen after that, with intermittent clouds through the evening rather than steady rain.

Meteored’s Cancún forecast also shows a 70 percent chance of rain, with an estimated 3.7 millimeters for the day. Its daily outlook lists a high near 30°C and a low near 25°C, with southeast winds averaging 28 km/h and gusts up to 50 km/h.

Heat will feel heavier than the thermometer

The temperature alone does not tell the whole sticky story. El Heraldo de México’s local forecast for Cancún reported a current temperature of 29°C, but a heat index of 34°C because of high humidity.

That same forecast put relative humidity at 80 percent and called for a high of 32°C, with light rain possible in parts of the area. In plain terms, the day looks more uncomfortable than dangerous on paper, unless someone is outside for long stretches without shade or water.

Wider rain pattern touches Quintana Roo

The broader weather setup also supports a rain-prone day across parts of the peninsula. The Servicio Meteorológico Nacional outlook included rain activity for Wednesday, while its extended forecast cited heavier accumulations for western Quintana Roo rather than naming Cancún directly.

That distinction is worth keeping. Cancún’s forecast points to showers and some rain windows, not a daylong washout. Further inland, the official outlook suggests the risk of rainfall may be higher.

For seasonal context, Vallarta Daily previously examined how El Niño could influence weather and marine conditions in Quintana Roo later in 2026. Today’s forecast is a short-term event, but it falls into a stretch where heat, humidity, and uneven rainfall remain part of the local weather picture.

Evening should stay cloudy, not clear

After the afternoon rain chance, Cancún is forecast to remain warm into the night. Temperatures are expected to remain near 28°C through the evening, with partly to intermittently cloudy skies from about 8 p.m. through 11 p.m.

No major nighttime drop is expected. That means the day’s humidity will probably hang around after sunset, because Cancún enjoys subtle weather about as often as airport taxis enjoy short rides.
