Mexico’s President has gallbladder surgery

Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto left the hospital on Sunday after undergoing surgery to remove his gallbladder.

Pena Nieto was released from the Central Military Hospital at midday, telling the press he is feeling "very good" and thanking doctors and nurses for their professional care. He said he is maintaining his normal schedule, including receiving a visit by Spanish King Felipe VI on Monday.

The 48-year-old president had the operation on Friday after experiencing "intense discomfort." Doctors said it was the only option. They said he was fully healthy and in charge after the surgery.
