Mexico Records First Wild-Born Mexican Wolf in Chihuahua

The National Commission of Natural Protected Areas confirms the first wild-born Mexican wolf in Campo Verde, Chihuahua, marking a major advance in the reintroduction program and biodiversity conservation.

Mexico has achieved a conservation milestone with the first recorded birth of a wild-born Mexican wolf (Canis lupus baileyi) in the Campo Verde Flora and Fauna Protection Area, located in northwest Chihuahua, after the species had been extinct in the region for more than 50 years, the National Commission of Natural Protected Areas (Conanp) reported.
