Los Mochis, Sinaloa – The Los Mochis branch of the Mexican Red Cross announced the official reopening of its blood bank this Tuesday, August 12, at 10:00 a.m., following the completion of a comprehensive remodeling project. The upgraded facility promises a safer, more specialized environment for blood donations, enhancing the city’s capacity to process and store blood components effectively.
This reopening restores a vital healthcare resource for Los Mochis, ensuring that blood supplies remain readily available for emergencies, surgeries, and medical treatments that depend on timely transfusions.
“Donating blood is sharing life,” the Red Cross emphasized in its announcement, urging the community to participate actively in maintaining a stable blood supply. The blood bank will operate 24 hours a day, with donor hours scheduled from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
To donate blood, individuals must meet the following criteria:
- Be between 18 and 65 years old
- Weigh more than 50 kilograms
- Present official identification
- Have not consumed alcohol in the last 48 hours
- Be in good health and not undergoing major medical treatments
- Have fasted for at least four hours prior to donation
Each blood donation has the potential to save up to three lives, highlighting the critical role donors play in community health. The Red Cross is calling on local institutions, businesses, and residents to join this solidarity effort and support the city’s blood bank.
