PUERTO VALLARTA (PVDN) - In a concerning new development, operatives from the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG), one of Mexico's most powerful drug trafficking organizations, are reportedly exploiting fear and deception to gain control of high-value real estate in Mexico. Sources, who have opted to remain anonymous for security reasons, reveal that the cartel members falsely assert ownership, discouraging rightful owners from reclaiming their properties through death threats.
According to the sources, the cartel operatives have recently adopted the tactic of identifying themselves as organized crime members with the intent of seizing real estate through the use of forged documents. As the threats and fear of retaliation intensify, many legitimate property owners are choosing not to contest these false claims despite having legal rights upheld by civil lawsuits.
The threats are reportedly directed towards the victims' homes or their legal representatives, leading to many litigants withdrawing from the cases out of fear for their personal safety. "The purpose is to take economic advantage, as these are very valuable lands," one source explained.
As a consequence, many owners are leaving their properties, hoping for a change in criminal policy that would allow them to safely reclaim and enjoy their properties under the protection of legal certainty offered by judicial decisions.
The high-powered CJNG cell has notably intervened in real estate cases in Zapopan. While several complaints have been made, authorities have so far been ineffective in taking action. According to the sources, the State Attorney's Office is seemingly hesitant to involve itself in issues related to the cartel, due to what they describe as a "well-founded fear of being deprived of life."
"The authorities are not acting for the same reason. Nobody is going against 'the office', as they call the criminals," one source reported. "Whenever something smells like a cartel, the Prosecutor's Office doesn't get involved and the investigation goes nowhere, because they fear for their lives, as many officials have already been victims in the present and previous administration, knowing that there is no security for them."
This alarming strategy of the CJNG underscores the deep-rooted influence and power wielded by organized crime in the region. It also illustrates the chilling extent to which fear and intimidation can affect the regular operation of both the justice system and the real estate market, further fueling the urgency for more effective measures against organized crime.
