PUERTO VALLARTA – In anticipation of increased tourist activity during the December holiday period, the Municipal Civil Protection and Fire Department of Puerto Vallarta has confirmed that over 20 lifeguards will be deployed across local beaches. Jorge Misael López Muro, director of the municipal department, announced that these efforts will be coordinated with state and federal agencies to enhance visitor safety throughout one of the city’s busiest seasons.
López Muro stated that the municipality is working closely with the Jalisco Regional Unit of Civil Protection and Firefighters, as well as the Secretariat of the Navy, among other government entities. These joint operations aim to streamline resources and avoid unnecessary overlap, ensuring that all beach areas are properly monitored. “We are in coordination with the three government entities. We had a meeting where we are coordinating the work to optimize resources, both from the federal government, the state government, and the municipal government,” he said.
In addition to the municipal team of 20 trained lifeguards, several volunteers will also be stationed at various strategic points along the coastline. This increase in personnel is expected to bring the total number of on-duty lifeguards to between 20 and 30. By pooling material and human resources, authorities seek to maintain a consistent and robust safety presence at all popular beach destinations, providing reassurance to both international visitors and local residents.
