Zihuatanejo rescue drill shows Navy and civil protection readiness before the 2025 summer season with eight simulated victims saved in a bay exercise.

The Navy teamed up with Zihuatanejo Civil Protection and the local Fire Department on July 9, 2025, to carry out a large-scale rescue drill in the bay off the town’s main beach. Although the scenario portrayed a fire on board a boat, the operation was purely a training exercise—designed to sharpen skills and reassure visitors and residents that emergency teams are ready for any situation.
