One of Two Missing People Rescued at Camarones Beach, Puerto Vallarta; Search Continues for Second Individual

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco – In a distressing incident occurring at Camarones Beach in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, two individuals from Puebla were reported missing on Sunday, January 28, after entering the sea despite the presence of a red flag indicating high tide and dangerous conditions. Civil Protection authorities of Puebla have confirmed that their counterparts in Jalisco successfully rescued one of the missing persons.

The alarming situation unfolded around 3:00 PM on Sunday when the two men ventured into the ocean, ignoring the hazardous conditions. Their distress soon caught the attention of beach lifeguards, prompting an immediate response from rescue units.

Despite the lifeguards’ prompt action, the search efforts faced significant challenges. By 4:00 PM, the teams had to suspend the operation due to the increasingly high waves and diminishing natural light, complicating the rescue mission.

In a subsequent update, Civil Protection of Jalisco informed their Puebla counterparts that one of the missing individuals was rescued on Monday. The details of the rescue operation were not immediately available, but the swift action of the lifeguards was pivotal in ensuring the individual’s safety.

As the search for the second individual continues, Civil Protection personnel from both the municipality of Puerto Vallarta and the state are tirelessly conducting comprehensive search and rescue operations. These efforts include area sweeps and specialized dives, supported by skilled divers, in a concerted attempt to locate the remaining missing person.

A statement from Civil Protection of Jalisco underscored the ongoing efforts: “Given the report of two missing people from the ‘Camarones’ beach in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco; It is reported that, thanks to the search and rescue actions of @PCJalisco, one of them was rescued by the beach lifeguards. #CivilProtection personnel from the municipality of Puerto Vallarta and the State carry out search and rescue actions such as sweeps in the area and dives with the support of divers.”

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of heeding safety warnings and the red flag system at beaches, especially during unfavorable weather and sea conditions. The Civil Protection authorities continue to urge beachgoers to exercise caution and respect safety guidelines to prevent similar tragedies.

Updates on the search for the second individual will be provided as more information becomes available. The thoughts of the community are with the families and friends of the missing individuals during this challenging time.
