On the morning of this Tuesday, December 27, the crash of an aircraft was reported in the municipality of Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, which generated an intense operation in the area to find the crew members on board.
According to state Civil Protection personnel, the incident occurred in the Villas Las Flores neighborhood, although the cause of the accident has not been disclosed.
So far, the authorities indicated that they managed to find two crew members alive (pilot and copilito). Their state of health is fair to serious and those affected are US and Canadian citizens.
At first, the emergency numbers were notified of an alleged road accident in the “El Salado” estuary area. Later it was learned that it was a small plane that had fallen in a wooded area.
In the face of this mishap, rescue maneuvers began, in which agents of the National Guard, the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena), and the municipal police of Puerto Vallarta also participated. The injured men were pinned down in the wreckage of the aircraft. The images shared by the authorities show the relief work.
The two foreign men were transferred to the Regional Hospital of Puerto Vallarta to receive specialized care. Local media indicated that the aircraft – with registration number N54IDW – had supposedly taken off from Vallarta and was heading to the city of McAllen, Texas, although this has not yet been confirmed by the authorities.
It was unofficially reported that the plane collided with a high-tension cable, which caused the pilot to lose control, although other versions point to a possible mechanical failure. After the mishap, support was requested from the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), as it was reported that a power line fell and there was a danger of fire.
UPDATE
