Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced that the final section of the Guadalajara-Puerto Vallarta short route will be completed and inaugurated before the conclusion of his administration. This announcement came during his recent visit to the neighboring state of Nayarit, where he inaugurated the penultimate section of the route, greatly enhancing connectivity between two major regions of Mexico.
The newly inaugurated section, Compostela-Las Varas, marks a major milestone in the construction of this crucial highway. By circumventing the challenging curves in the Mesillas area on Federal Highway 200, the new section significantly reduces travel time from Guadalajara, the capital of Jalisco, to the popular tourist destination of Puerto Vallarta. Previously, the journey took more than four hours; now, travelers can expect to reach their destination in just 2.5 to 3 hours.
The completion of this penultimate section has been met with enthusiasm from both local residents and tourists, who anticipate more convenient and safer travel. This enhancement is expected to boost tourism and economic activity in Puerto Vallarta, a city renowned for its beautiful beaches and vibrant culture.
President López Obrador also provided an update on the final section of the highway, which will extend to the Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport in Puerto Vallarta. He assured that this section would be completed by the end of September, within just over 45 days.
“Before I finish, on September 29, 30, we will be inaugurating the Tepic-Compostela section and the bypass to Vallarta, rain or shine,” stated President López Obrador. This firm commitment underscores the administration’s dedication to improving infrastructure and enhancing regional connectivity across Mexico.
The completion of the Guadalajara-Puerto Vallarta short route is anticipated to have a transformative impact on the region. By facilitating faster and more efficient travel, the highway will not only improve the quality of life for local residents but also enhance the appeal of Puerto Vallarta as a premier tourist destination.
In addition to boosting tourism, the new route is expected to stimulate economic growth by attracting more visitors and investors to the area. Local businesses, particularly in the hospitality and service sectors, are poised to benefit from the increased traffic and accessibility.
