Puerto Vallarta Civil Protection Watching Tropical Storm Development Near Jalisco Coast

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco – As the rainy season intensifies, the Municipal Directorate of Civil Protection and Firefighters of Puerto Vallarta has escalated its monitoring efforts due to the potential formation of a tropical storm near the coast of Jalisco.

First Commander César Zamora, Head of Operations of the municipal department, has issued a public advisory urging residents and visitors to stay informed through official Civil Protection channels.

“We must pay close attention to the calls from the authorities. We know that we have a disturbance with probable cyclonic development today off the coast of Michoacán and Guerrero. We are monitoring this disturbance to see how it evolves in the future and, if we have to take preventive actions, for now, we are only asking to be attentive to the communications of the Civil Protection authorities and the federal authorities,” stated Zamora.

The vigilance comes as the National Meteorological System of the National Water Commission (Conagua) forecasts varying weather conditions for the Central Pacific region. The day is expected to transition from partly cloudy to overcast skies, with a temperate environment in the morning, cooling with fog banks in mountainous areas, and warming to hot temperatures by the afternoon. Variable wind directions of 15 to 30 km/h are anticipated, with gusts ranging from 50 to 70 km/h and waves between 1 to 3 meters high in Colima and Michoacán. These conditions may also bring the possible formation of waterspouts off their coasts. Jalisco is expected to experience gusts of 40 to 60 km/h, while Nayarit may see gusts of 30 to 50 km/h.

The municipal department’s heightened alert underscores the importance of community readiness and responsiveness to official advisories. In light of the current meteorological conditions and potential risks, residents and visitors are encouraged to remain vigilant and follow safety guidelines issued by Civil Protection authorities.

Local authorities emphasize the critical need for public cooperation during such periods of heightened weather activity. Residents are advised to secure outdoor items, stay indoors during heavy winds, and avoid areas prone to flooding. The public is also reminded to keep emergency supplies and important documents in waterproof containers and to have a communication plan in place with family members.

Furthermore, the Civil Protection department is coordinating with other municipal services to ensure swift response capabilities in case of emergencies. This includes readying evacuation routes, setting up temporary shelters, and ensuring that emergency response teams are equipped and prepared for rapid deployment.

As the situation develops, ongoing updates will be provided through official channels. First Commander Zamora reassures the public that the Municipal Directorate of Civil Protection and Firefighters is committed to safeguarding the community and will continue to monitor the situation closely.

For real-time updates and further information, follow the official social media accounts and websites of the Municipal Directorate of Civil Protection and Firefighters, as well as those of the National Meteorological System and Conagua.

Public Advisory:

  • Stay informed through official channels.
  • Follow safety guidelines and advisories issued by authorities.
  • Prepare emergency supplies and secure important documents.
