Puerto Vallarta Expects Over 70% Hotel Occupancy for Summer Vacation Period

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco – As the summer vacation period approaches, Puerto Vallarta is preparing for a surge in tourism, with hotel occupancy expected to exceed 70%. This optimistic forecast was shared by Luis Villaseñor Nolasco, director of the Tourism Trust of Puerto Vallarta, who emphasized the predominance of national tourism but also noted a significant influx of international visitors, particularly from regions experiencing rising temperatures.

“We are aiming to surpass last year’s occupancy rates and maintain a level above 70%,” said Villaseñor Nolasco. He attributed this positive outlook to the concerted efforts of the Tourism Trust in promoting Puerto Vallarta at major regional sales exhibitions in cities such as Guadalajara, León, Aguascalientes, Chihuahua, and Monterrey. These efforts are geared towards attracting more visitors to Puerto Vallarta during the summer season.

“Puerto Vallarta has always been a reliable destination, known for its safety, cleanliness, diverse activities, and wide range of lodging options to suit various budgets,” Villaseñor Nolasco remarked. He highlighted the significant role of national tourism in this season’s visitor demographic. However, he also pointed out that a considerable number of tourists are expected from California, Arizona, and Texas, where the summer heat drives people to seek cooler, coastal destinations like Puerto Vallarta.

In terms of connectivity, there will be an increase in flights from major cities such as Mexico City, Tijuana, and Monterrey, enhancing the influx of tourists from these metropolitan areas and their connecting hubs. Additionally, road tourism will play a vital role in boosting visitor numbers.

“Family vacations are prominent during this period, with shorter reservation windows, particularly from the Bajío region,” Villaseñor Nolasco explained. “The Guadalajara-Puerto Vallarta highway, with its two-and-a-half-hour travel time, has significantly contributed to last-minute bookings, which helps increase our occupancy rates. Unlike Cancún or Los Cabos, which primarily rely on air travel and require advance vacation planning, Puerto Vallarta benefits from its accessibility, attracting weekend travelers from the Western region of the country.”

With these preparations and strategic efforts, Puerto Vallarta is set to welcome a vibrant and bustling summer season, ensuring that both national and international visitors enjoy a memorable and delightful stay.
