Puerto Vallarta will host its fifth annual Mango Festival on Saturday, July 15, featuring contributions from at least 25 local restaurants celebrating the versatility of the mango. The festival is organized by local residents and aims to attract thousands of attendees, both local and tourists, to Lázaro Cárdenas Park. The Festival will run from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., All proceeds will go toward constructing the Casa de la Cultura for the sister cities in Ixtapa.
A crocodile was spotted carrying a human body in Puerto Vallarta along the Ameca River. Witnesses, who attempted to deter the crocodile by throwing stones, alerted the authorities, leading to a swift response from Civil Protection, State, and municipal firefighters. The rescue team located the body, which showed signs of having been dead for several days, likely did not die from the crocodile attack. Following a challenging recovery, the body was handed over to the Jalisco Institute of Forensic Sciences for examination and identification.
A tragic helicopter crash near the base of Mount Everest claimed the lives of five Mexican tourists and the pilot today. The helicopter lost contact about 10 minutes after taking off. The weather made rescue efforts difficult, forcing teams to retrieve the bodies on foot. The Nepal Civil Aviation Authority identified the deceased Mexican tourists as Fernando Sifuentes, Abric González, Luz González Olacio, María José Sifuentes, and Ismael Rincó.
