Hotel Occupancy in Puerto Vallarta is expected to reach 83% for Easter

PUERTO VALLARTA — According to the latest figures released by the Federal Ministry of Tourism, Puerto Vallarta is set to achieve an average occupancy of 82.7 percent during the upcoming Holy Week and Easter holiday period, ranking fifth among destinations nationwide. Nuevo Nayarit is on track to register the highest occupancy at 88.3 percent, followed by Riviera Maya (87.1%), Cancún (84.0%), and Los Cabos (83.2%).

Data from the Ministry also indicates that, at a national level, 14,756,000 tourists are expected to travel around Mexico during this holiday season—2.1 percent more than the same period in 2024. Total tourism spending is projected to reach 282.011 billion pesos, which represents a 4.4 percent increase compared to 2024.

This year’s Holy Week and Easter holiday period stretches from Saturday, April 12 to Sunday, April 26, 2025. The national hotel occupancy rate is forecast at 65.7 percent, representing a 2.2 percentage point increase over 2024.

The Ministry also projects that 6,578,000 tourists will stay in hotels, representing a 1.6 percent increase compared to 2024. Of those, 4,852,000 are expected to be domestic tourists, accounting for 73.8 percent of the total. Approximately 26.2 percent will be international travelers.

Beyond hotels, 7.462 million domestic tourists are anticipated to choose alternative accommodations—including staying with relatives, friends, or using personal vacation properties—while 716,000 international visitors are expected to book lodging through digital platforms.

During this period, lodging revenue nationwide is estimated to reach 15.716 billion pesos, further cementing the importance of domestic tourism in Mexico’s recovering travel industry.
