Italian Ship “Amerigo Vespucci” Departs Puerto Vallarta After Five-Day Visit and 11,000 Visitors

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco – This Sunday morning, the Italian ship “Amerigo Vespucci” set sail from Pier 3 of the Maritime Terminal, marking the end of its five-day visit to this renowned tourist destination.

The iconic training sailboat of the Italian Military Navy had arrived as part of the celebrations commemorating the 150th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mexico and Italy. The visit, which officially began in March, was part of the ship’s 2023-2025 circumnavigation journey.

As reported by the Administration of the National Port System (Asipona) in Puerto Vallarta, the Amerigo Vespucci, often hailed as one of the most beautiful ships in the world, docked at the port at 9:30 a.m. The ship's presence was a significant event for both the local community and visiting tourists.

During its stay, the Amerigo Vespucci welcomed 11,140 visitors aboard, allowing them to explore and admire its historic and ornate interior. The open tours provided a unique opportunity for many to learn about the vessel's storied past and its role in training future naval officers.
