Mexicana de Aviación Resumes Service to Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – In a move aimed at enhancing travel options during the upcoming Easter holiday, Mexican state airline Mexicana de Aviación has resumed its service from Felipe Ángeles International Airport to Puerto Vallarta. The airline confirmed that the route, now operating with two weekly frequencies, will be serviced by a 180-seat Boeing 737-800.

The inaugural flight under the new schedule departed Felipe Ángeles Airport at 8:45 a.m. and touched down at Puerto Vallarta International Airport at 10:10 a.m. Officials emphasized that the timing of this service resumption is strategically planned to coincide with the holiday period, during which the airline will roll out various promotions for its customers.

Earlier this year, Mexicana de Aviación restructured its business plan, leading to the suspension of eight out of its 18 routes, including those to key destinations such as Acapulco, Campeche, Guadalajara, Ixtapa, Nuevo Laredo, Puerto Vallarta, Uruapan, and Villahermosa. Despite these cuts, the airline has maintained operations across 14 destinations, continuing its commitment to providing low-cost air travel.

In a statement, the airline highlighted that during January and February, it completed 582 flights carrying a total of 53,312 passengers—a statistic that underscores its operational capacity even amidst the restructuring efforts. The return to Puerto Vallarta is seen as a significant step towards achieving profitability while offering expanded service options to meet rising passenger demand during the peak holiday season.

As travelers prepare for the Easter celebrations, Mexicana de Aviación’s new route not only provides an additional travel option but also reinforces the airline’s focus on strategic route planning and customer-centric service enhancements.
