PUERTO VALLARTA (PVDN) - The Puerto Vallarta Tourism Advisory Council convened on Thursday, making significant headway in discussions around economic development and tourism in the region. The meeting also marked the formal integration of the Marina Vallarta Residents Association into the council.
Christian Salvador Preciado Cázares, the Director of Tourism and Economic Development, spearheaded the meeting on behalf of Mayor and Council President Luis Alberto Michel Rodríguez. Representatives from various sectors and organizations were in attendance.
The newly inducted Marina Vallarta Residents Association, represented by Antonio García López, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to participate in the council's activities and contribute to promoting Puerto Vallarta as a leading tourist destination.
The session's highlight was the proposal for a project aimed at boosting the economic and tourist activities of the municipal markets, emblematic icons of Puerto Vallarta. The initiative, a joint endeavor by the Director of Tourism and the City Hall Markets Headquarters, led by Cecilio López Fernández, is designed to showcase the culinary richness of the area.
Ana Álvarez, the project's creator, introduced an event named "Taste of Competition." The event, slated to be held at the Emiliano Zapata municipal market, will feature a contest among local chefs, challenging them to create a dish representative of Puerto Vallarta using ingredients sourced from the market itself. The event aims to offer the participants visibility and brand recognition through media coverage.
The inaugural edition of "Taste of Competition" is scheduled for August 4. It will feature a gala with food and drink tasting stalls for attendees. Market tenants will work closely with organizers to ensure the availability of top-quality products for the event.
Council members from different sectors pledged to promote the event within their respective areas of influence.
In addition to economic growth initiatives, the council addressed concerns related to the influx of foreign tourism trucks and the need for solutions. They also considered proposals to repair and rejuvenate the areas along the city's boardwalk affected by wave damage and regular wear and tear. This renovation plan includes enhanced lighting and other improvements to enhance the boardwalk's overall appeal.
To conclude the session, Preciado invited participants to the upcoming Day of the Dead Festival, which aims to adorn the boardwalk with 'catrinas' and 'altars of the dead.' The announcement stirred great enthusiasm among various sectors, promising widespread participation in the event.
